Monte Carlo neutron transport simulations of the lunar surface

Monte Carlo particle transport simulation studies of lunar albedo neutrons are performed and analyzed in order to characterize the neutron environment on the Moon, and its dependence on several spatial and temporal variables like the water ice content and composition of the lunar soil. Project results will provide essential input for the further development and upcoming lunar missions of the Puli Lunar Water Snooper (PLWS) neutron spectrometer instrument.
