ESBL-producing Escherichia coli is a major healthcare problem, occurring not only in humans but also in animals and in environmental sources, circulating among these compartments in line with the One Health concept. This is not only true for the resistant strains, but also for mobile genetic elements and resistance genes. The study aims at comparing strain diversity, plasmids and ESBL genes in E. coli isolates from various sources across compartments.
